The Many Faces of Schoko

My puppy makes the funniest faces! And you thought her looking at the plants was funny! Look at these silly photos.

Here she is being good and staring down that treat.... The more serious I am the more likely I am to get it!...I just know it!... Focus... Watch Every Movement....

I like to flop back my ears... this one got stuck....

Both Ears Back - From the top it looks like I am wearing a little hat... - Seriously everyone comments on her ears being flopped back. What a silly puppy. -

Yawn - I look like a dino - both ears back and all... hahaha... hahaha....

What a cute puppy! That last picture always makes me laugh! :)

Little Seeds

Last month I planted seeds for our garden this summer. I ordered my heirloom organic little seeds from Grow Organic.com. This is my second time starting my seeds. It is so fun to watch the seeds start coming out of their shells and growing up to be big plants. It's one of those little things in life that I enjoy doing, and doesn't take that much time.

I took one class from Wasatch Community Gardens two years ago and took lots of notes! It's a good thing I took notes or I would've forgotten how to get those seeds started this time around. That year Spencer built me a sweet light stand for the plants using pvc pipe. Thanks Hun! I was sad when I couldn't do plants last year, but we were moving and getting settled into our new house. So, this year is the year of the garden, yay! I even remembered to make little tags for each garden pod so I knew what is in them. Last time I didn't quite do that and I got some of the plants a bit mixed up. oops.

Here is a pic of the setup. Everything is up on a table in my office. I put a beautiful (haha) beach towel under the whole thing to make sure water doesn't get on the carpets...

Schoko loves to look at the plants. Every morning and evening she goes up to my 'office' where the plants are and helps me turn on or off the plant light. It's so cute to watch her sniff and lick each of the plants. I always remind her to 'leave it' so she doesn't try to eat them. She is such a good pup and just sniffs the cute little plants. She also watches when I water them and I let her taste some water so she knows what's going on. What a good helper!

So that is some of what we've been up to around here!

Schoko passed her Canine Good Citizen test last night. We are so proud of her :) To be continued...

Blogging

I started a different blog for a while but it just was a little too much work. I was trying out the LifeRay Blogs because my hubby was using it and it made sense at the time. But not so much anymore. So, I copy/pasted everything to this blog today. Yes, things are all out of order. At least all my blogging made it in one place, ha.

I plan on blogging or journaling occasionally with some random something that I have done recently. It will help me remember what I have done in life.

Our little puppy went to Camp Bow Wow for the first time Thursday. She had so much fun playing all day long! I think we will bring her in occasionally so she can play with lots of other dogs and just be a dog for a day! I can't believe she is already 5 months old. She is growing up so fast. I am constantly amazed at how quickly she changes. It only took her a month or so to loose all of her baby teeth and all the new ones to grow in. People take so much more time to grow, crazy.

Here is a cute picture of little Schoko when she was a month and a half old or so. This is my favorite picture the breeder sent us. She always is so excited to play! So cute.

The Hamilton's Have Arrived!

September 18,2010

They are here! Our couches finally made it! I think they look perfect in the living room! They are just the right size for the room :-)

For an added bonus you can see the shutters too! I need to work on decorations for the end table. Don't worry I am not leaving the green vase in my red/yellow/gold room!

I also got Spence to help me hang up the picture above the fireplace. I found some decorations around the house, and stopped at Home Goods to pick some up. I think it turned out alright. I am not totally in love with the decorations, but they will do for now.

The Tragic Tale of the Tail

August 28, 2010

We were all ready to get our puppy. I have been so excited! We had a name chosen, bought a crate, a bed, and a few toys. We were planning to take home our cute little girl September 17th. Our breeder was wonderful, she kept us informed about the puppies progress and sent out pictures every weekend. Everything was going so well.

When we got our second email we didn't quite know what to think. She had mentioned docking the puppies tails. We had hoped she didn't dock ALL of them, but alas she had. It had been miscommunication on my part. I should have verified prior to the puppies being born, but I was so excited that I had forgot all about the tail! Since the breed standard is both ways, it is important to clarify. Some breeders dock tails because that is the traditional way, and others leave the full tails.

We had to make a decision at that point. Should we get the puppy with the docked tail, or wait and get one with a full tail?!

Here are some pictures I found online.

With a docked tail:

With a full tail:

So, after going through pros and cons of having a tail, I decided it was best to wait for the tail. I think the little white tip is so cute, and I want to come home to a happy puppy wagging her tail!

I called the breeder and let her know. She was very understanding and helped me get on another breeder's list, who (we verified this time!) will leave the tail on her puppies. We are now expecting a puppy to be born around Halloween and come home around Christmas time! What a great gift! :-)

Today

September 18, 2010

Today is the day, that if our little pups tail was attached - she would be home with us right now! I can't believe it.

When I was planning on getting the pup from this first litter, it felt like it was going to take forever for her to come home with us. But hey, that day is now here. I guess time really does keep going. It never stops. Before I know it, it will be Christmas, and we really will be taking her home! Fall will have passed, and it will be freezing cold and I will wish it was summer again. ha.

Time is a unique thing. We are always creating new memories weather we want to or not. I find myself trying to remember the past, while looking towards the future.I hope someday I can learn to just enjoy the present - not waiting anxiously for the future or wishing things from the past hadn't happened.

Right now, I like where I'm at. I love my husband and have a great house. I just can't help but wish I had that cute little puppy today. :-)

Flaming Gorge with the Fam

October 2, 20

We went in August with the Meffords to camp out and run the river. We had a great time on the river with Aaron and Norma's Family on our raft. We only ran over one rock. Ha. The river was really low this year so there were more rocks. Most of them were very shallow so you couldn't see them until you were about to hit them. Some kids behind us hit a rock and lost all of their gear - we found a few of their shoes and gave them back at the bottom. We also let them use our bucket to bail out their boat. Wasn't that nice of us? It was fine until the end when it was suddenly a downpour! We were totally soaked and the rain was so hard it kinda hurt like it was hailing! The kids all complained, but it was still fun. Our boat started filling with water and we no longer had our bucket.. haha

Here are a few pictures from camp. We rode the 4-wheeler around. Spence wants to get one for next year. I think we need a truck first :-)

Runnin' the River

September 18, 2010

We also went to Jackson Hole this summer with

my friend Kara and her Fam! It was super fun.

We always have such a great time with them.

We camped outside of Alpine, WY and ran the river just up the canyon.

If you are ever (I mean EVER) In Alpine you need to eat at

the Cheeseburger Factory. It was so yummy! :-)

I am horrible at taking pictures, but I found one! HA.

I think I may have a few on our waterproof

throw-away camera that I have yet to develop.

Here is a pic of our crew for some proof ;-)

The Cruise

We have had so much fun this summer going on vacations! So, it would take me forever to add all of them at once so I'm going to start with the cruise. On July 4th we set sail for the Mexican Riviera on the Carnival Splendor. We had a great time! This was the last trip my whole family would be together for a while, since Stephen is now serving an LDS Mission in Canada for 2 years. It was fun to spend time as a family before he left.

Our first few days were some fun days at sea. We played cards, mini golfed, soaked up some sun, and ate lots of food.

We love playing Canasta and Hand In Foot!

This picture is of the first formal night. We had fun dressing up :-)

Our first port was Puerto Vallarta. Here we did the Extreme Canopy Adventure. First we took a boat out to another little town. From there we got on big truck/jeep things, (it felt like we were on the Indiana Jones Ride at Disneyland, it was so bumpy!) up to the base of the adventure. From there we rode mules up the canyon to where we would begin the zip-line adventure!

I look tired, but Bex looks cute! HA!

This first one is of me flying through the canyon, and then Spencer about to end his first zipline.

From there we took several other ziplines to cruise through the canoyon. It was so much fun!! The first one was a bit scary, but after the initial shock of it all, I had a blast! I would definatley do it again! About 1/2 way through the course we repeled down a few waterfalls.

We had so much Fun!! :-)

Afterwards Spencer and I went out to Pepe's restaurant. It was delicious! Highly recommended if you are ever in Puerto Vallarta!

The next port was Mazatlan. Here Spencer and I did the Salsa and Salsa adventure. We made salsa and then learned to dance the salsa! It was really fun, and we have made the salsa recipe from this adventure using our garden veggies at home and it is de-lish!

The last port was Cabo San Lucas. Here, we all went snorkling.

We had a great time on the cruise. I just wish every day was a port day. The cruise ship was fun, but I really enjoyed the ports!

Pizza

October 3, 2010

We made the best tasting pizza ever! We found a great sauce recipe from AllRecipes.com and used fresh ingredients from our garden. It was super yummy. The dough could've turned out better, but the overall flavor was amazing.

This year our garden has grown out of control. We have had tons of tomatoes. If we make anyhthing that could taste good with some added tomatoes we've added some from the garden. We also have tons of jalapenos, peppers, and tomatillos. Needless to say we have made tons of salsa this year - thanks to that great Salsa and Salsa Adventure recipe from the cruise. We even bought a large molcajete on Amazon.

Baby Isaac's Blanket

September 18,2010

Here are some pictures of the cute blanket I made for baby Isaac. It was fun seeing my friend from High School. I swear, it has been too long. I feel like college, work, and just life in general got in the way of keeping up with old friends. I really have been a horrible friend! But, I am trying to be better! It was nice to see her and her cute little family! :-) Her baby is so cute!

Again, I LOVE This Rick-Rack it is super cute! Once you figure it out, (yes I had to unpick and re-do it once ha!) it is quite easy to do and I think adds so much extra cuteness to the blanket.

Baby Blankets

August 29,2010

I have three friends who are having baby boys! So, I decided I would sew up some cute blankets for them! They are adorable! I hope they like them :-)

I LOVE this wrapping paper! I think it is so cute, and perfect for baby boys, I just had to take a picture of it.

This one is for Baby Jett:

I love the blue rick-rack around the edge.

I can't quite post the one for baby Isaac since I have yet to give it out, and I forgot to take a picture of baby Carson's blanket. So, I will add pictures later. For now, we can enjoy looking at cute baby Jett's blanket!
